Mantra Diksha

Mantra Deeksha must be a once-in-a life-time occasion during when the Guru imparts Mantra/ spiritual power into Shishya thereby initiating him/her into the spiritual life.  It is like litting a lamp by another lamp.  The lamp which lits can be metaphored to Guru and the latter to that of the shishya.  From this, it is very clear that only an ignited lamp can lit another lamp which otherwise means only a spiritually realized person or a spiritually  advanced person can be a Guru.  Moreover, the Guru parampara or the lineage of Gurus is taken into account for considering a person to be a Guru in the Sanatana Dharma apart from one's advancement in spiritual life.  We, who come in the lineage of ‘Puri’ Sampradaya of the Dashanami Sampradaya which was started by Sri Adi Shankaracharya, attribute the Gurutwa to Bhagawan Sri Sri Ramakrishna Deva. Bhagawan Sri Sri Ramakrishna Deva was not only an upholder of the Dashanami Sampradaya of the Sanatana Dharma, but also of other Dharmas .  And wonder of wonder is that He came out successful in every path He had treaded.  As a conclusion, He declared to the world, “As many faiths, so many paths.”  In this context, it is worthy to recollect the eternal Saying of Bhagawan Sri Sri Krishna Who says,

“ये यथा मां प्रपद्यन्ते तांस्तथैव भजाम्यहम् |

                                मम वर्त्मानुवर्तन्ते मनुष्या: पार्थ सर्वश: ||

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            -Srimad Bhagavad Gita – 4:11

This means, “ In whatever way, men worship Me, in the same way do I fulfill their desires; (it is) My path, O Son of Pŗthă, that men tread in all ways.”

Sri Ramakrishna Who is knonwn in the Ramakrishna Order as ‘Sri Guru Maharaj’ enlivened the Sanatana Dharma by following its various paths and attaining their destined-end i.e. God Realisation.  Afterwards, Sri Guru Maharaj trained a band of youngsters whose very aim was God Realisation.  Thus He extended the parampara of Sanatana Dharma.  And this tradition is retained by the Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Ramakrishna Order.  They give Mantra Deeksha to the aspiring souls.  Sri Ramakrishna Math, Kanchipuram also arranges for Mantra Deeksha for the aspiring devotees after scrutiny.  The interested aspirants can contact the Math Office.
