In his famous 'Rameshwaram Lecture', Swami Vivekananda says, "He who sees Shiva in the poor, in the weak, and in the diseased, really worships Shiva; and if he sees Shiva only in the image, his worship is but preliminary." Yes, the Ramakrishna Order which was founded by Swami Vivekananda, tries to see The God in the poor, in the weak and in the diseased by serving them through various activities such as doing Relief works during and after natural calamities, medical services, etc. Sri Ramakrishna Math, Kanchipuram serves the 'Rogi Narayanas' i.e. The God in the form of the dieseased in its own humble way. The following medical services are done.
1. On an average, 10 LAPs come on every Saturday for getting their wounds dressed. The well-trained and dedicated volunteers of our Math, clean the wounds of the LAPs , apply medicines and dress.
2. We also provide them rice and grocery items. After serving them the lunch-prasad, they are given conveyance to go back their homes.
3. Dhotis/ Sarees are given to them before Deepawali and Pongal festivals.
2. Homeopathy Clinic
A Charitable Homeopathy clinic is run by the Math. The under-privileged people of the near by village are the beneficiaries.
3. Ortho Camp
Ortho Camps are arranged twice in a month to serve the orthopaedic patients.
4. Eye Camp
Eye Camps are arranged once in 6 months. The patients who are eligible for cataract surgery are sent to an eye hospital in Chennai.
